TAI CHI FESTIVAL 11-12 Dec 2026
Move with Harmony. Live with Balance
11/12 Dec 2026 | Andalus Garden, Manama, Bahrain
The Bahrain Tai Chi Festival 2026 is a two-day celebration of Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Chinese culture, health, well-being, and community. Held at Andalus Garden in the heart of Manama, the festival will bring together people of different ages, cultures, and backgrounds through movement, cultural experiences, and shared practice.
The event is designed as much more than a Tai Chi workshop. It is envisioned as a public cultural occasion, a wellness experience, and a community celebration where families, students, professionals, seniors, wellness practitioners, and martial arts enthusiasts can come together and discover the many dimensions of traditional Chinese movement arts.
Harmony, Health, Culture and Community
The festival is built around four central ideas: Harmony, Health, Culture, and Community.
Harmony is expressed through the shared experience of Tai Chi, bringing people together regardless of age, culture, or previous experience.
Health is explored through gentle movement, breathing, balance, posture, relaxation, and greater awareness of the body.
Culture comes alive through Tai Chi and Qi Gong as well as Chinese calligraphy, tea culture, food, traditional arts, and cultural activities.
Community is at the heart of the festival, with opportunities for families, schools, businesses, wellness organizations, and community groups to participate and connect.
Tai Chi for Everyone
One of the main purposes of the Bahrain Tai Chi Festival is to make Tai Chi and Qi Gong accessible to everyone.
Families and children will be able to experience movement, beginner Tai Chi, and cultural discovery in a relaxed open-air environment. Seniors can explore practices supporting balance, mobility, and confidence in movement. Students can discover Chinese culture while developing focus, discipline, and coordination.
Professionals will have opportunities to experience breathing, relaxation, posture awareness, and attention training, while members of Bahrain’s wellness community can participate through demonstrations, talks, and integrated well-being experiences.
Experience the Festival
Throughout Andalus Garden, different areas of the festival will offer visitors a variety of experiences.
The Main Practice Zone will host large-group Tai Chi and Qi Gong sessions, including public practices and special sessions with the festival’s guest teacher.
The Demonstration Stage will feature Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Tai Chi Fan, Ba Gua, children’s demonstrations, and invited performances.
The Culture Village will introduce visitors to Chinese calligraphy, tea culture, traditional arts, Chinese food, and cultural displays.
A dedicated Family and School Zone will provide beginner-friendly activities and movement experiences for children and young visitors, while the Wellness Area will explore subjects including posture, balance, stress management, and healthy living.
Special Guest of Honor — Grand Master Huang Xin
A major highlight of the Bahrain Tai Chi Festival 2026 will be the participation of Tai Chi Grand Master Huang Xin, invited as the festival’s special guest of honor.
Grand Master Huang Xin will contribute to the opening ceremony, present a public Tai Chi demonstration, lead teaching sessions and guided public practice, and share a cultural message about Tai Chi as a living Chinese heritage.
Huang Xin Shifu is a renowned martial artist from Yunnan Province, China. Born in 1964 in Guiyang, Guizhou, he began practicing martial arts during childhood, initially learning traditional Qin Na with his father before becoming a disciple of prominent Bagua Zhang and Tai Chi masters.
His martial arts lineage includes Cheng Style Bagua Zhang, Shi Style Bagua Zhang, and Chen Style Tai Chi Quan. He is a 7th Duan Chinese Wushu practitioner, a sixth-generation inheritor of Cheng Style Bagua Zhang, a fifth-generation inheritor of Shi Style Bagua Zhang, and an eleventh-generation inheritor of Chen Style Tai Chi Quan.
His presence brings an authentic connection to traditional Chinese martial arts and offers festival visitors a rare opportunity to experience Tai Chi taught and demonstrated at a master level.

The afternoon will also provide opportunities for festival partners and participating organizations to share their work before the festival concludes with a final community celebration and an invitation to continue the Tai Chi journey beyond the event.
Tai Chi, Health and Wellbeing
Tai Chi combines gentle movement, breathing, posture, and focused attention. The festival will introduce these principles in a welcoming and practical way, allowing participants to experience how Tai Chi can become part of everyday life.
Particular themes presented during the festival will include balance and fall prevention, mobility and posture, stress and mood, quality of life, body awareness, and attention. The festival also connects attention and self-regulation with one of the central principles of the Ki Train Method: mastering attention.
No previous Tai Chi experience is required. The festival is intended to provide opportunities both for complete beginners and for experienced practitioners.

Building a Lasting Tai Chi Tradition in Bahrain
The Bahrain Tai Chi Festival has a larger vision: to strengthen cultural friendship, promote healthy and active lifestyles, introduce Tai Chi and Qi Gong to a wider public, and create collaboration between cultural institutions, schools, universities, businesses, community leaders, and wellness organizations.
The long-term ambition is for the festival to develop into a meaningful annual event in the Kingdom of Bahrain and a platform through which more people can discover Tai Chi, Chinese culture, and a balanced approach to living.
